Born in France on 12 February 1955, Patrick Alexandre graduated from the Paris Institut d'Etudes Politiques and the Institut Supérieur des Affaires (Jouy-en-Josas). He began his career as Junior Executive in the Sudameris Bank (1981-1982). He joined Air France in 1982 as a junior Executive in the Economic Analysis Department of the Scheduling Division. He was subsequently appointed Sales Manager for Italy, based in Rome, on 1 April 1984. From 1 January 1988 to 1 January 1992, Patrick Alexandre held the post of Personal Assistant to the Chairman, after which he was appointed General Manager for Central Europe, based in Geneva. In September 1993, Mr. Alexandre took over as President for Europe and North Africa, reporting to the Deputy CEO International Affairs. He was appointed Deputy Vice President for Europe in September 1994, followed by Vice-President in May 1995. In January 1996, Patrick Alexandre also occupied the post of Senior Vice President International Sales for Air France Europe (formerly Air Inter). He was appointed Executive Vice President International Commercial Affairs in April 1998.

Following his insightful and visionary remarks at last year's global meeting, ACTE has invited Charles Petruccelli, President of American Express Global Travel Services, to provide another keynote address. The world has witnessed some extraordinary events since we met in Munich eight months ago, and Mr. Petruccelli will comment on the impact that the current worldwide economic environment, the military conflict in Iraq and the SARS virus have all had on the global travel industry. He will also re-visit critical issues to our industry and speak about important themes, such as the benefits of globalisation, the evolving role of the travel management company within today's operating environment and the future of travel distribution. Charles Petruccelli is President, Global Travel Services at American Express. He is responsible for the company's Corporate Travel and Foreign Exchange business world-wide. He also oversees the company's international network of Travel Service Offices.
