CSR and Business Travel

Frankfurt, Germany
12 June 2007 - 12 June 2007
Steigenberger Metropolitan

Two key components of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will provide the focus for this Forum.  First an examination will be undertaken to understand business’ efforts to support sustainability throughout their enterprises and particularly within travel and how both corporate travel departments and suppliers working together can offer sustainable solutions.

The Forum will then turn its attention to corporate duty of care of traveling employees. The session will provide measures the travel department can take to mitigate risk, including raising awareness among travelers that only through their cooperation and compliance to prescribed processes is it enabled to support their safe travels.

Responsible Purchasing: Utilizing Green RFP’s

A 2006 ACTE survey of travel purchasers and meeting professionals revealed a growing interest in the environmental implications of managed travel programs. More than one-third of survey respondents indicated that they are currently assessing travel suppliers based on their environmental credentials and are actually changing and/or “de-listing” suppliers based on a poor record. This session explored:

• Key components of “green” RFP’s
• How suppliers can best answer these new questions
• Trends in environmentally conscious business practices

Managing Risk in Business Travel

Now, more than ever, corporations are focusing attention on managing risk associated with their employees while traveling on company business. However, globalization, lack of a mandate to corporate policy and complications with traveler tracking temper the ability of travel management to completely control this area. This session will evaluate:

• Policy as a risk aversion tool
• Pre-trip notification, trip decision making authority and traveler tracking
