Around the World is a certified, hands-on, global immersion training and development programme focused exclusively on global business travel management.

Travel Professionals Gain additional market knowledge within select cities and regions via a customized itinerary.
University Students A limited number of Student Fellowships are available that offer student fellow participants practical training/internship opportunities in addition to the activities below. Enrollment is competitive.

Fees

ACTE Corporate Buyer Members Five (5) complimentary registrations for each city are available to ACTE Corporate Buyer Members (limited to one city per buyer). Email [email protected] to inquire about availability.
Industry Professionals Registering for Individual Cities
$2,495 USD per city
Registration includes city-specific programme activities, local transportation to/from appointments, several meals, and medical evacuation & travel insurance. Fees do not include airfare or hotel accommodations. Email [email protected] to inquire about availability.
Student Fellow Applicants There is no fee to apply for the student fellowship nor are there participation fees for those selected to the programme. Any costs borne by student fellows are discussed under Expectations of Fellowship Recipients.

Sample City Itinerary

Day One:
Cultural excursion & city tour
Welcome dinner with programme participants

Day Two:

Economic, industry & cultural briefings
Travel Managers’ Roundtable with key corporate buyers in the local travel community

Day Three:

Airport tour
Industry updates from key sectors of the corporate travel industry, e.g., airlines, hotels, Travel Management Companies (TMCs), etc.

Days Four to Six:

Site visits and partner tours to key suppliers of business travel products and services, e.g., corporate payments, expense management tools, global distribution systems (GDS), online booking tools, hotel operations, etc.
Closing event with programme participants and a sponsor partner

Background

The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) is pleased to partner with a leading supplier of business travel products and services to award Around the World Student Fellowships to distinguished university students who demonstrate an exceptional interest in corporate travel management and a commitment to working in the global business travel industry.

The 6-week programme offers unprecedented academic training, experiential learning and networking opportunities with industry leaders in global business centers throughout the world.

2016 Fellowship winners will be announced on or before 1-March for the May-June 2016 programme.

Fellowship Qualifications

To be eligible for consideration, students must meet the following criteria:
Current enrollment as a 4th year undergraduate, recent university graduate, or graduate student from an accredited university; preference will be given to students with a demonstrated interest in global business or travel/hospitality management.
A minimum grade point average of 3.0 / 4.0 (or equivalent).
For non-native English speakers, a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (Internet based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (“TOEFL”); Note: A student who receives a 6.5 on the IELTS is exempt from taking the TOEFL.
A valid passport and eligibility to obtain visas required to travel to the destination countries.

Expectations of Fellowship Recipients

Fellowship recipients will be expected to:
Fund passport and visa costs, airfare to the beginning city and home from the final destination, and living expenses during the programme internship, where applicable. Out-of-pocket expenditures are estimated to be $2,000-3,000 USD.
Complete a substantive work product, e.g., business plan, industry forecast, market research, etc., for the designated industry partner that is funding the Fellowship. The specific work product will be defined by the Fellowship sponsor.
Accept an employment contract for up to 12 months with the industry partner that is funding the Fellowship (with the option of transitioning to a permanent placement, if both parties are agreeable). BCD Travel, the funding partner for 2016, will provide more information about employment expectations during the final stages of the selection process through an interview.

* Specific terms and conditions will be clarified in a written agreement between the Fellowship winner and the funding industry partner.

Fellowship Application Process

Fellowship applicants will comply with the following application process. All materials may be scanned and emailed to [email protected].
Review and agree to the Programme Code of Conduct & Participation Guidelines.
Complete the Programme Application on or before 15-January-2016 for the May–June 2016 programme.
Submit a curriculum vitae (CV).
Submit a university transcript.
Submit two (2) letters of recommendation. Recommendation letters must be from individuals, e.g., a university professor, a former supervisor, or other non-family member, who can serve as a personal or professional reference for you.
