ACTE Members Make Valuable Contribution to First Book Published on Asia-Pacific's Managed Travel Practices

-- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) announced the publication of At Face Value, which provides insight into the uniqueness of managed travel practices in the Asia-Pacific region. Due out this month, the book written by Bicky Carlra delivers an analysis of facts and statistics for each country in the Asia Pacific region coupled with insights into their regulatory and legal requirements, cultures, customs, and political structures as well as economic expectations. The purpose of the book is to assist the industry in making more informed and rationale business decisions when working in the Asia-Pacific region.

Michael Bezer, ACTE Regional Chair for the Asia-Pacific region added, “The number of questions asked about Asia-Pacific’s practice shows how much people want to learn about the region. The combined outcomes of ACTE’s educational events, surveys and reports offer exceptional opportunities that not only bridge the information gap but offer completely new insights.”

ACTE members throughout the Asia-Pacific region contributed to this endeavour by sharing their expertise. They were among the numerous travel professionals, responsible for corporate travel policies and programmes in the region, whose collective opinions form the content of the book and its ten main topics.

Greeley Koch, ACTE President said, “ACTE’s international community is respected for their knowledge of the practice and for their ability to identify issues of substance in any part of the globe. The book is a great resource for those contemplating doing business in the region and those already entrenched in it.”

Asia-Pacific is expected to become one of the largest markets for business travel within the decade. ACTE’s role in setting the scene and paving the way for companies to develop corporate travel policies that fit the markets in the region is paramount. In 2006 ACTE organized ten executive forums covering the Asia-Pacific cities of Beijing, Bangalore, Delhi, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney. ACTE’s 2006 global and regional conferences also featured dedicated education seminars on topics including distribution, CSR, contagion, traveller security, online booking tools, and procurement.

The publication will be available to ACTE’s members worldwide as a benefit of membership. For more information on ACTE’s Asia-Pacific activities in 2007 contact:
