We are almost half way through 2008 and what an eventful year it has been so far!
Our Membership has expanded rapidly since January and ACTE members in the Middle East and Africa are comprised of major corporations such as Accenture, Anglo American, AngloGold, Barloworld, De Beers, Ericsson, Group 5, Intel Corporation, KBR, MTN, Nampak, Schlumberger Oilfields, Shell Petroleum Development Corporation, Spescom, Vodacom and Unilever to name but a few.
To become an ACTE Member, simply complete the electronic application form at the Middle East & Africa Membership page.
ACTE’s mission is to work collaboratively with our Members and the industry as a whole in order to enhance the travel management profession. We deal with a myriad of issues including but not limited to best practices within a managed travel policy, cost and supplier consolidation, tools for effective supplier negotiation and changing trends across the region and globally. ACTE events focus on issues pertinent to each region and aim to assist the Corporate Travel buyer in maximizing their efficiency and in so doing, adding value to their corporations. We also work, when appropriate, with ministries, academia, and other organizations to support you and the industry.
Our most recent Executive Forums took place in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dubai and Nigeria with an additional event taking place in Dubai – Corporate Travel Management EMEA – where ACTE assisted as the Education Partner.
Our Global Conference in May took place in Washington DC and the event saw over 1 300 delegates in attendance from 30 countries around the globe. Should you be interested in downloading any of the White papers, Keynote presentations or Educational sessions, feel free to follow the above link to the post event site.
The last half of the year will see several Executive Forums hosted across the region in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Doha and we will also be taking our first steps into Kenya and Abu Dhabi. In addition, our second Global Conference this year will take place in Rome from 5 – 7 October 2008 with the theme ‘Corporate Travel in the Forefront’ and will deal with the most pressing issues facing the Global Travel Industry giving senior level executives the opportunity to find solutions to their most pertinent challenges.
We are delighted to also announce that we will be having our first ever Africa Education Conference from 9 – 11 November in Johannesburg.
More than 300 delegates representing travel and procurement departments of many of Africa’s largest corporations as well as suppliers to the business travel industry, travel management companies, agents, government and security professionals will attend this event.
Delegates will be travelling from cities all over Africa, including Alger, Cape Town, Casablanca, Douala, Johannesburg, Lagos and Nairobi to gain from quality Travel Management education and cross-continent networking opportunities.
For further information about these events, please check the ACTE Education Calendar regularly.
We look forward to providing you with best practices, benchmarking, tools, and data that you need to enhance your knowledge base, your career, and your company’s buying potential in 2008.
Please do not hesitate to let the Middle East & Africa Team know if you have any queries, require any further information or would like to get more involved with the Association - we will be delighted to be of assistance.
In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you soon at one of our upcoming events.
Stay well!
