ACTE Moot Court: The Future of Distribution (GDS vs. GNE)
Watch as senior executives from some of the largest companies in travel
battle over the industry's hottest debate...GDS versus GNE, The Future of Distribution,
delivered during the travel industry's first ever Moot Court.
What is a Moot Court?
The Moot Court is a process used in law schools around the world as a means
to teach law students the art of advocacy. Modeled after appellate advocacy--where
judges ask the attorneys questions instead of the attorneys doing the asking
themselves—participants in moot court receive a case in advance. The participant
teams then research and prepare for that case as if they are advocates for one
of the sides, and present their oral arguments in support of their position,
before a panel of neutral judges (e.g. policy makers or CEOs).
The process allows for audience participation and a senior "magistrate”
with far ranging powers moderates so that no question is off limits and no statement
will goes unchallenged. Executive-level subject matter experts from airlines,
travel management companies, the GDSs, the "Genies" (GNE or GDS-new
entrants), and corporate travel buyers comprise the combatant teams.
Will the new model of distribution look like it does today, or will it be radically
altered? What changes are likely to occur and how will they impact the buyers,
sellers and distributors of travel? Is this all about economics, about new technologies,
or are the forces in the marketplace simply driving towards change? Is this
all much ado about nothing? Do not miss this revolutionary and exciting approach
to today's hottest topic that is sure to engender real debate based on advance
research from the experts in the field.
