Upwardly Mobile: The Next Step for Travel Management

Emerging mobile applications offer the promise of flexibility, connectivity and productivity for business travellers. As mobile technology evolves travel programmes will take advantage of new functionalities for improved communication and enhanced trip experience. Travellers will increasingly rely on their mobile devices while on the move and the need for internal cooperation between IT, HR and travel departments will become more obvious. The findings of this research identify how mobile technology is currently used, its benefits and its full potential when applied to travel programmes. This is just at the beginning of a new way of managing corporate travel.

A Best Practices Guide to Corporate Travel Policy Compliance

Rising prices from suppliers and increased scrutiny by senior management of travel program costs are putting more pressure on corporate travel managers to deliver value. A key component of that goal is traveler compliance. Never an easy process, getting travelers to use the corporate card, book with the travel management company, use the self-booking tool, and utilize preferred suppliers for air, hotel, and car is critical to success. To find out if corporate travel managers are making headway on compliance and if so, how they are achieving this, in March of this year the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) and AirPlus International decided to conduct a survey of ACTE members, complemented by a white paper that would explore these best practices in more depth.

Corporate Air Travel and Climate Change

This report is the culmination of the first major project undertaken by the ACTE Global Centre, commissioned by the founding contributors, IBM, TRX and the University of Sheffield. It provides an independent assessment, specifically tailored for the corporate aviation travel industry, of the current position, best practices and emerging trends in the face of climate change. Emissions reduction has become a highly emotional and frenzied topic in the business travel community. The purpose of this study is to take the emotion out of the equation, to present the industry with an accurate assessment of business travel’s impact on the environment, and to provide ACTE members with a reasonable course of action to follow that will produce measurable results.
