Board of Directors: Regional Role & Responsibilities

Position Description: Regional Board Member

A regional board member is elected by the members of a particular region and is the main liaison between the Regional Chair, the members of the region, and the ACTE Board of Directors. Regional Board members provide leadership and guidance to the ACTE Regional Chair and Regional Director assuring alignment with ACTE strategy and goals. Although, the regional board member is focused on a particular region they still have an obligation to serve the entire membership.

Specific Responsibilities for Regional Board Members

Each Regional Board Member has the same responsibilities as At-Large Board members plus the following responsibilities specific to their region:
Represents members from the region to the Board and maintains active two-way communication links with the Regional Chair, the Regional Director and the members.
Provides regular updates on their region at Board of Directors meetings
Keeps the Board of Directors abreast of trends and developments within the region on a regular or as needed basis.
Builds and enhances relationships in the region with current and future members.
Attends and represents ACTE leadership, and actively participates at ACTE events as well as shaping the programming needs within the region.
Assists with sponsorship development within the region.
Assists in succession planning of regional leadership.

Length of Term: Three (3) years

Additional Qualification Criteria for Regional Board Members

Strong knowledge of, and ability to articulate and discuss issues and challenges facing the region.
Has strong presence and visibility within the region.
Ability to travel throughout the region.
Maintains and fosters relationships with regional media contacts.
Knowledge of other associations within the region.

Time Commitment

Additional time commitment for Regional Board Members:

Representing ACTE leadership at ACTE or industry events/meetings One (1) day per year

Other

Expenses: Expenses related to attendance at Board meetings, ACTE Conferences, and other ACTE events are the responsibility of each Board member or Officer (or their company). ACTE will cover expenses for the official ACTE representative (President, President-elect, or assigned Board member) to attend events or meetings outside the required Board meetings or events. Board member expenses for these events will be covered only if approved by the President.
Confidentiality: Each member of the ACTE Board of Directors is required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement and a Conflict of Interest disclosure form before taking office and each January during their term.
