In answer to economic questions posed by ranking business travel managers in an international industry, the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has signed Linda Yeuh, a leading global economist and frequent BBC commentator, as a keynote speaker for the group’s Global Education Conference in Berlin (3-5 October 2010). “Our industry and the global economy are in the process of economic recovery and questions remain about what the recovery will look like, how quickly and to what level it will rebound,” said ACTE President Chris Crowley. “Every segment of our profession is straining to move forward and this presentation will help define the direction in which we should be moving.”
Yueh is a fellow in economics at Oxford University, a senior fellow at the London Business School, and an economics commentator appearing on broadcasters such as the BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, CNN, and ITV News, among others. She directs the China Growth Centre (CGC) at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford, is an associate of the Globalisation programme of the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) and the IDEAS research centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and a fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA). Her work examines major economies such as Britain, China, United States, Europe as well as developing countries, and her research focuses on global imbalances, economic growth, and the rise of emerging economies.
Yeuh’s keynote presentation at the conference will address the significance of Brazil, Russia, India and China in establishing a new economic world order and the resulting changes that are likely to affect the business travel industry. Christopher Buckley holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Aston in Birmingham (U.K). He joined Airbus Industrie in1992 as Sales Director for Europe with responsibility for sales in the U.K., Ireland and Greece. Following his appointment to Vice President Sales for Western Europe in 1997, he took responsibility for Airbus' commercial activities in some 20 countries.
Both keynote presentations will take place during a General Session on Monday, 4 October, 16.30 -17.30.
