Alexandria, VA -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) recently announced the presenters for the invite-only European Executive Travel Summit, to be held at the ACTE Global Education Conference in Munich, 21-23 October 2007. The European Summit, which is modeled after a board meeting, will host the top minds of the European travel management industry, government ministries, commerce, and academia.
The European Summit is part of an ongoing ACTE initiative to develop high level analysis and review of public-private sector issues impacting global business. Summit attendees will deliberate issues of European risk and security, competitiveness, economics, and sustainability practices. The deliberations will serve as a foundation for 2008 Europe forums and upcoming ACTE public advocacy projects.
Dr. Elly Plooij-van Gorsel comes to the ACTE European Summit representing ten (10) years as a former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and former Vice-President of the European Parliament, Chair of the Inter-parliamentary delegation for relations with China. During her MEP tenure, she served on the committees for Research, Technology and Energy and External Economic Relations and was a member of the Delegation for Relations with the United States. Dr. Van Gorsel joined Blueprint Partners in 2004 as Senior Counsellor. She is currently a board member of EUclaim, serves is on the Advisory Council for International Affairs for the Dutch government, and is a former member of the Steering Committee of the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN).
Kenneth McGill is the Executive Managing Director of the Travel & Tourism practice with Global Insight. Mr. McGill is responsible for management of the firm's consulting activities related to analysis of the travel and tourism sector. Kenneth provides market analysis for the accommodation, entertainment, and transportation industries, and leads consulting projects related to strategic planning. Mr. McGill possesses nearly three decades of experience in economic analysis and strategic consulting and is a West Virginia University graduate.
Mark Pilling is the managing editor of Airline Business magazine responsible for monthly reporting on the air transport industry. Mr. Pilling has held the posts of deputy editor of Commuter World magazine and Interavia Aerospace Review prior to being appointed editor of Airports International in 1992. Mark makes regular appearances on television and radio broadcasts, such as CNN and the BBCWorld Service and has written for a host of titles on aviation matters, including Flight International, Flight Daily News, The Financial Times and The International Herald Tribune.
The half-day Summit will take place at the ArabellaSheraton Grand Hotel Munchen on Monday, 22 October 2007 from 0830 to 1330. At the Summit, attendees will examine safety and security issues, sustainability concerns and an economic outlook of the business travel industry within Europe.
