Business
Travel Industry to Address Economic Crisis at ACTE Regional Summits
(Alexandria, VA. - October 9, 2001) - In response to the
economic crisis gripping the U.S. business travel industry, the
Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) is focused on
bringing all industry segments together in a series of Regional
Summits throughout October.
Through these Summits ACTE is: 1) identifying the best
ideas for getting business travelers back on airplanes and into
rental cars and hotel rooms; 2) engaging Summit participants
in identifying industry assumptions and strategies that have been
inalterably changed; 3) understanding likely industry economic
models to emerge per industry segment; and 4) identifying
opportunities that can be pursued through the coming industry
restructuring that will create greater value for all industry
participants than has been possible in the past.
ACTE
executive director Nancy Holtzman stated, "Recent tragic events
have rendered the current business travel industry economic model
obsolete. Airline, rental car, hotel, travel management companies-virtually
all segments--have been hard hit. Industry participants are struggling
with troubling questions in the absence of a certain direction
for the future."
Participants are joining a Working Group of respected industry
colleagues who will share insights, build on progress made in
each successive Summit and produce a "Sense Of The Industry" declaration
at the end of the Summit series. Industry, government and press
officials will be presented with findings and encouraged to debate
future models for the business travel industry.
Results
from the Regional Summit roundtables are now available on the
ACTE web site at www.acte.org. The site will continue to host
the results of focused problem solving as it progresses from each
US and European city. The Roundtable Results are available to
all members of the travel industry at no charge. The registration
fee to attend a Regional Summit will be waived for ACTE members
as well as members of the Press. All other industry participants
will receive a special "Industry Survival" discounted rate.

the Regional
Summit home page for more information.
