ACTE Canada Council Receives New Chair

Katherine Mason, Vice President Business Development for Carlson Wagonlit Travel, has been named chair of ACTE's Canada Council according to an announcement made by association President Earl Foster. A member of ACTE since 1998, Mason has more than 20 years of experience serving the travel industry.

Before joining Carlson Wagonlit in 1998, Mason held a number of senior management positions with British Airways in Toronto, culminating in the role of vice president Sales and Marketing. Her 20-year career with the carrier commenced with the position of Reservations Sales agent, and included regular promotions to Sales executive, Sales manager, director of Marketing, and director of Sales.

Mason is a member of the Carlson Wagonlit Management Committee in Canada. Mason holds a diploma from St. Clair's College in Windsor in Communication.

Arts and she has completed a number of Accounting, Business Finance and Political Science courses at University of Windsor and University of Toronto. She completed a series of management courses with British Airways in London, England.

Mason is completing a tenure of office recently vacated by Douglas Galbraith, director of International Marketing & Sales for International Software Products. While remaining a key player in ACTE's Canadian programs, Galbraith said that time constrictions stemming from increased activity on the corporate-level were limiting the extent of his availability to the association.

"Canada is the closest link in ACTE's chain of international members," said Galbraith. "My advice to the association's Canadian members is to get involved and to direct the Canadian business travel management industry from a position of strength backed by expertise."

"I'd like to thank Douglas Galbraith for the effort expended in serving as the Chair of ACTE's Canada Council," said Association President Earl Foster. "Your efforts have gone a long way in illustrating the challenges and obstacles currently facing business travel management professionals from Vancouver to Montreal. Please accept the grateful acknowledgement of our association for your endeavors in performing an exceptionally difficult task."
