Meeting and business travel professionals are finding incredible value in utilizing the Internet to enhance productivity in their daily tasks. Whatever the scope of the task - from RFP’s to virtual site tours to sourcing new products, technology tools help business professionals save time, conduct research and enhance the decision making process.


Millions of people use Google daily to find out about almost anything. However, search engines have dozens of advanced capabilities that most people are not aware of. With billions of information-rich websites, the task of finding the piece of information you need is becoming more arduous.


In this half-day hands-on session (one computer for every two participants), we will identify websites, free or low cost tools and office technologies that have an enormous impact on your productivity. This session is for everyone from Google novices to search engine pros. It will demystify how to use the various search tools to find what you need and do so quickly.


From better web-searching techniques to understanding portals and vortals, this session offers a foundation and advanced learning tool for ALL meeting and business travel professionals to improve their use of technology.


Google will be primarily utilized, however, advanced search features from other sites will also be discussed.


After attending this session, you will be able to:

  • Describe the 10 critical techniques for effective web searching.

  • Utilize the full power of Google’s 10 essential information portals.

  • Navigate the deep invisible web and explain why much information is not found through traditional web searching.

James Spellos, CMP is a highly sought-after presenter who recently wowed audiences at the 2007 MPI World Education Congress in Montreal. As the President of Meeting U, his company specializes in training in the topics of technology applications, presentation skills and meeting planning. Jim is certified as a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS). Jim is and has been a faculty member at New York University’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies since 1990, joining the undergraduate faculty in 2002.
