Wednesday, 20 August 2008
09.00 to 11.00
Companies everywhere are increasingly aware of their responsibilities and considering what they need to do to make a fair contribution and improve their environmental and social impact on the community.
This high-profile panel session will focus on the impacts, challenges and solutions for the business travel industry and highlight how the corporate travel and hospitality industries can play a leading role in the mainstreaming of responsible business travel management.
The issues under discussion will be: How does the business travel industry socially and environmentally impact the overall and local community in terms of environment, quality of life, equity, fairness and long term sustainability? What social and environmental CSR challenges do the corporate travel and hospitality industries face? How are corporate travel managers, hoteliers, airlines and travel management companies responding to these challenges in a strategic way?
The interactive discussion will also focus upon practical advice to the business travel community. Panel members representing the whole industry and beyond will address issues such as greening the supply chain and procurement process, labour migration, green design, certification and standards as well as discuss the key economic impacts these issues have upon the business travel industry.
