Buenos Aires, Argentina -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has added a Latin American educational track to its agenda for the 2007 Global Education Conference in Miami (May 6-8). This addition reflects the growing demands of a rapidly expanding membership in Mexico, Brazil, Columbia, and Argentina. According to an announcement made today by association Executive Director Susan Gurley, this move is part of an increased focus on the Latin American market that began with the appointment of ACTE’s Latin American representative Patricia Rasore.
“The educational track will be a continuation of issues covered by our executive forums and webcasts specially tailored for our Latin American constituency,” said Gurley. “This will include a special technology focus, best practices for Latin America, and accelerated courses for developing global programs that best support regional travel programs in each member country.”
In a related announcement, Julain Benavento, Global Travel Manager, Exiros/Techint Group has been named an ACTE “Country Champion” for Argentina and Jérôme Cartier, Sales & Marketing Director, Carlson Wagonlit Travel as “Country Champion” for Mexico. “Country Champions” are ACTE members who have volunteered to monitor industry developments, evaluate membership needs, and calculate ACTE responses to government regulatory actions within a specific country.
“These volunteers are long-time ACTE members and have been involved in association educational events throughout the region for a number of years and will lend their expertise to the creation of the Latin American education programs in Miami,” said Rasore.
Rasore, Benavinto, and Cartier will serve as a defacto committee of experts on interpreting trends for the Latin American market.
“The corporate travel sector in Latin America is evolving and ACTE has been both diligent and aggressive in advancing the industry on both local and global issues, and provides a sense of community between events,” said Cartier. “The association has been a reliable source of pertinent information and a good research resource for the past 5 years.”
“Benavento added, “ACTE shows consistent leadership on issues that directly affect the industry, while remaining cognizant of the fact that many sophisticated travel programs are already in place throughout this region. ACTE’s positions on contagion and CSR are two critical indicatives of great importance to this region.”
