The first session, "When Gen Y Runs the Show," sought an understanding of the long-term projection of the "knowledge economy" - populated by a new generation of employees with perspectives on personal and work lives that differ from earlier generations. It examined the expectations and behaviors of Generation Y, along with the implications for travel programs and travel vendors who support this newest group of corporate travelers. The presenters receiving the Distinguished Fellow distinction for their insights into this workplace shift are:
• April Bridgeman, Senior Vice President, BCD Travel
• Anthony Bartolo, Partner Engagement Manager, Microsoft
• Michael Tangney, Global Travel Manager, Google
Said one conference attendee about the education session, “I was fascinated by the travel management strategies presented. This was probably the best session that I have ever attended at an ACTE conference, and I've been to six!”
The second honored session was delivered via a new educational format among ACTE's global portfolio - and provided content on one of the most widely discussed topics at the event. The "ACTE Mobile PechaKucha" provided a unique opportunity for the business travel audience to learn about a wide-range of emerging mobile travel applications following the principles of PechaKucha, a presentation format in which panelists have six minutes and a limited number of PowerPoint slides to tell their story. Presenters receiving the honor include:
• Tony D'Astolfo, Vice President Worldwide Sales, Rearden Commerce
• Scott Hintz, Vice President, Business Development, TripIt
• Frank Petito, President, Orbitz for Business
• Christophe Peymirat, Vice President of Global Marketing, Egencia
• Will Pinnell, Director of Mobile Strategy, Sabre Holdings
• Johnny Thorsen, CEO, ConTGo
• Florian Tinnus, Head of Business Development, Corporations, Amadeus
Attendees rated the session both for its presentation format, as well as the content delivered. One attendee commented, “Please do another one of these in the future," while another said, “By far my favorite session. (I am) looking into a couple of solutions right now ba
According to ACTE President Chris Crowley, "ACTE's primary focus on this year's educational content was examining the future of business travel and offering solutions to adapt and prepare for that future. These two sessions and the presenters who delivered them perfectly realized ACTE's vision."
ACTE will hold its Fall Global Education Conference this 3-5 October in Berlin, where the organization will celebrate 20 years of advancing the European business travel community. For more information, and to register for this and other future ACTE events, please visit www.acte.org.
