London, England --
The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) convened a unique Executive Forum in Stockholm yesterday (January 27th), exploring “The Hidden Dimensions of Value Creation and Collaboration.” The event was significant on several levels. For example, it leveraged advances in video streaming technology to virtually connect ACTE meetings in Denmark and Norway to the main event at the Sheraton in Stockholm. In addition, the event was developed and implemented in collaboration with the Nordic region’s Business Travel Associations in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.
The programme included “A View Of The Future” by Bengt Wahlström, Trend Analyst and CEO of Företag & Framtid AB, round table discussions and expert panel views from both procurement and demand driven corporations. Live multi way video li
According to a statement issued by ACTE President Richard Crum, “This event heralded ACTE’s first venture into utilising virtual meetings technology on this scale, combined with standard business meetings practices, to bring together the leading business travel experts within a region.”
ACTE members and sponsors are emphatic in their need to scrutinize travel expenditures given rebounding economic conditions. According to Crum, “We are taking that mandate very seriously. ACTE’s leadership regards this landmark event as an initial step into the future envisioned by our membership, and is a testimony to the integrity of professional educational programming by our international partners.”
Forum planning and content was driven by a dynamic voluntary regional planning committee including ACTE’s Swedish Country Champion Cathrine Lundberg, CMM Consulting, IKEA’s Torbjorn Erling, and British Telecom’s (BT) Alisa Bornstein, who stated, “The Forum was for the first time in ACTE’s history done with the usage of this type of modern technology. So great to see the Scandinavian travel community to be the first in line and showing the way!”
Danish Business Travel Association (DBTA) representative Anne Grete Lindberg added, “We were very pleased with the meeting and would like to thank ACTE for giving us this opportunity to experience the combination of participating in a conference together using video technology. It has been very useful for all of us and a very good learning platform to develop our future work within this area.”
The Stockholm Executive Forum, including video feeds from the remote locations in Oslo and Copenhagen will be available on the ACTE website shortly. ACTE will integrate similar technology at the 2010 Global Education Conference in Chicago (16-18 May). More information and registration details on future ACTE events can be found at www.acte.org.
