The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) announced today that Gillian McCormack (formerly Cody), Manager, Business Development, American Express Business Travel, is the new Regional Chair for the association’s Canada region. The Regional Chair leads the Canada Council, which is made up of member volunteers and focuses on continuing to deliver outstanding programs and services that provide value to ACTE members across Canada.
Ms. McCormack has worked extensively in the Canadian travel industry for more than 15 years. Beginning her career in the hotel industry, she moved into the travel management segment six years ago and now manages business development for American Express in Western Canada.
“ACTE is pleased to announce the appointment of Gillian McCormack as the new Regional Chair for the Canada region,” Annemarie Reininger, ACTE Board Member, Canada, said. “Gillian brings an enthusiastic Western Canadian perspective to the association and is excited about her role with ACTE. With Gillian in this key position, ACTE will continue to ensure that business travel professionals’ collective voice is heard in the dynamic Canadian market.”
“I am thrilled to be offered this exciting opportunity. Annemarie and previous Regional Chairs have solidified ACTE’s place in Canada, and I look forward to continuing their great work,” commented Ms. McCormack. “It is now more important than ever for us to work together with our members and volunteers to forge new paths, build new relationships, and find collective and creative solutions to unprecedented challenges.”
Part of Ms. McCormack’s focus as Canada Regional Chair will be to increase participation in ACTE educational and professional development initiatives among those in the Canadian corporate travel industry as well as globally, while bringing those issues to the forefront which are of keen interest to both buyers and suppliers.
Ms. McCormack is an active member of ACTE. She has served as Marketing Portfolio Lead, Calgary City Champion, and twice on the Canadian Education Conference Steering Committee, as the Co-Chair at the Calgary Conference in 2007, and most recently as a Committee Member for the 2008 Toronto Conference.
