ACTE announced today that Polly LaBarre, Innovation Correspondent for CNN and co-author of the bestseller, Mavericks at Work: Why the Most Original Minds in Business Win, will be a keynote presenter at the association’s Global Education Conference in Washington, D.C., 5-7 April 2009.
LaBarre’s presentation will reflect the conference theme, Uncoventional Solutions for Uncommon Times. She will provide insight about the world’s most creative companies and their courageous leaders who are reinventing the logic of how business gets done.
“New ways of thinking, and acting, are called for during challenging times. The old business models no longer apply,” said Susan Gurley, ACTE Executive Director. “We look forward to hearing Polly LaBarre’s provocative and inspiring voice on business and innovation at the ACTE Washington, D.C. conference, and plan to be motivated and encouraged by her words.”
LaBarre spent eight years as a senior editor of Fast Company, where she wrote articles on strategy, creativity, and personal success, and co-hosted the magazine's Real Time conferences. She has spoken to business audiences around the world and has appeared on Good Morning America, CNBC, and PBS's Nightly Business Report. She is currently a business and innovation correspondent for CNN; on LaBarre’s thrice-weekly “Idea Factory” segments on the network’s American Morning and Your Money programs, she introduces viewers to a remarkable collection of inspiring leaders, innovative organizations, and exciting new ideas from the world of business and beyond.
LaBarre’s new book, Mavericks at Work: Why the Most Original Minds in Business Win, offers a bold idea agenda and powerful next practices that amount to a business plan for the 21st century.
Other keynote speakers at the event include Juan Enriquez, one of the world’s leading authorities on the dynamics of the economic and political impacts of the life sciences, and James C. May, President and CEO of the Air Transport Association (ATA). For more information, and to register for the ACTE Global Education Conference in Washington, D.C., please click HERE.
