FIRST ACTE JAPAN POWERTALK TO BRING TOKYO’S BUSINESS TRAVEL INDUSTRY TOGETHER Singapore (25 Nov. 2008) – The Association of Corporate Travel Executives’ (ACTE) first Tokyo PowerTalk on 3 December will bring together key members of the business travel management industry to discuss Managed Corporate Travel, Traveller's Safety and Security, and CO2 Emissions and Sustainable Business Travel. The event will take place at the Westin Tokyo Hotel.
“ACTE is responding to the call of the Japanese business travel industry, which is regarded as one of the region’s most significant and complex environments,” Kenneth Phua, ACTE Regional Director, Asia-Pacific, said. “Business travel management is evolving and ACTE’s role is two-fold: to be a conduit for establishing a community of corporate travel buyers and suppliers, and to encourage knowledge exchange which is advantageous for all parties.”
“Building a community of Japanese business travel managers is important in sustaining continuous professional development for the individual and the industry,” Keiko Sund, head of the ACTE Japan PowerTalk Committee and Country Travel Representative, Cargill Japan, said. “ACTE has been instrumental in facilitating this process in many markets around the world, and it would be beneficial for Japanese customer and supplier corporations to develop a similar network here in Japan.”

The world also continues to closely monitor the damaging effects of CO2 emissions and the threat to security/safety, both of which are closely li
One topic, Travellers’ Safety and Security, remains especially relevant to the Japanese business travel industry, where the sense of responsibility to employees ranks highly among companies. Hiroyuki Ishii, General Manager, Global Account Management at International SOS, will speak about trends in managing travellers’ safety and developments in this arena as it relates to corporate Japan.
The subject of CO2 Emissions and Sustainable Business Travel is being addressed globally, and Professor Satoshi Fujii, Department of Civil Engineering, at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, will share his perspectives on how this affects Japan’s business travel and transport industry.
ACTE PowerTalks present neutral platforms that are ideal for members of Japan’s business travel industry to network and learn more about new developments, which can influence how both customers and suppliers will operate.
