For Immediate Release

Toronto --
The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) third annual Canada Education Conference in Toronto this week, drew a record 360 participants from across Canada. According to ACTE President Richard Crum, this is almost 40 percent larger than last year’s event.
“While this is a tremendous vote of confidence for the industry, it also shows two other forces at play,” said Crum. “The first is that ACTE is offering definitive strategies for operating in what appears to be a long-term global economic challenge. Our education focus, ‘Strategize to save money, travel to make money,’ is having an immediate effect for a number of companies. The second is that our events are serving as a rallying point for the business travel industry during these uncertain times.”
This year’s Canada Education Conference was anchored by leading industry economists, who not only predicted the future, but described the best way to approach it. On Monday, 17 November, Professor Louis Gialloreto, BA, BA (Hon) Law, MBA, LLM, MRAeS, identified a number of key variables that will spark new opportunities for growth in the business travel industry. On Tuesday, 18 November, Pedro Antunes, Director, National and Provincial Forecast, Conference Board of Canada, revealed a national and provincial travel forecast, spanning new trends and anticipated developments.
“It’s one thing to be presented with a set of numbers and told this is the future, deal with it,” noted Monica Hailstone, ACTE Canada Regional Director. “But it’s quite another thing to be told, ‘This is very likely to happen, and here is the best way to manage it.’ This is the approach that ACTE takes. Our members know the difference.”
