“Even though we grow larger from year to year, welcoming new members from every segment of the industry, ACTE remains a highly focused group of people – like a family – largely on a first-name basis with each other,” said Monica Hailstone, Regional Director, ACTE Canada. “Volunteerism plays a major role in fulfilling the needs of our members, and in advancing every aspect of the travel agenda. Today, we honor three members who really take the concept of volunteerism to heart.”
Michael T. Bingham was cited for his ongoing contribution to developing sessions at all three ACTE Canada Education Conferences. His attention to detail in planning sessions and conducting the necessary research was also noted. Cheryll Cruz was honored for her extensive efforts as “ACTE City Champion,” as well as an educational programmer, moderator and panelist. Nick Del Torto was recognized for his work regarding the merger of the Canadian Business Travel Association East with ACTE, his contribution to the conference steering committee, and his work leading roundtable discussions.
“Members such as Michael T. Bingham, Cheryll Cruz, and Nick Del Torto are the reason this association endures and prospers,” said ACTE Executive Director Susan Gurley. “Their efforts serve as a model for others to follow. I congratulate them on receiving this award.”
ACTE volunteers bring passion and meaning to the association, working in partnership with ACTE staff in a variety of capacities. No matter what their roles, all volunteers play a critical part in making sure ACTE meets the needs of its members and fulfills its vision.
Members who volunteer for ACTE are a diverse group. They are corporate travel managers, suppliers of business travel products and services and independent consultants. They live and work in different countries around the world, yet they all have one thing in common: a personal commitment to making a difference.
