Alexandria, Va --
The first business travel management research resource to be offered online by a major professional association – ACTE Connect – has been routinely scoring more than 2,100 hits per month, since its inception last May. According to Megan Costello, Executive Director of the Association of Corporate Travel Executives’ Global Centre for Research and Education, ACTE Connect has become the most popular online feature (among those offered by the association) for travel managers, suppliers, analysts, educators and writers.
“ACTE Connect has attracted repeated hits from our members and industry representatives from around the world,” said Greeley Koch, Chair, ACTE Global Centre. “And more than 75 percent of these are from corporate buyers, indicating a strong need by buyers to obtain quality research and materials.”
The highest hit-count by region was from the United States (41 percent), followed by Asia-Pacific (27 percent), Europe (23 percent), Canada (5 percent), the Middle East and Africa (3 percent), and Latin America (1 percent). An initial analysis of users indicates that the core users were travel managers (75 percent), followed by suppliers (14 percent), agency (9 percent), and press (2 percent).
The top three search categories were best practices, industry trends, and self-booking. Best practices was the number one search category in Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, and the U.S. Self-booking held the top interest spot in Canada, while Asia-Pacific opted for industry trends. The most common search words used by one third of the systems subscribers were “GDS,” “CSR/Green,” and “Online.” The number of searches spiked following the ACTE Asia-Pacific Education Conference in Singapore, held 20-21 August, as all conference presentation materials are posted on ACTE Connect. All presentations and white papers delivered at the upcoming ACTE Global Education Conference in Rome, 5-7 October, will also be posted to ACTE Connect. I
ntroduced by former ACTE President Greeley Koch at the association’s Washington, D.C. Global Education Conference this past May, ACTE Connect began with 450 documents on file. It has presently grown by 25 percent with over 550 documents, white papers, and reports on file. One of the more attractive aspects of ACTE Connect is that hundreds of documents once regarded as proprietary are now available to everyone – without membership nor charge.
Research is continuously refreshed by buyers, suppliers, TMCs, consulting firms, ACTE partners, research organizations, government agencies and academia. Eighty percent of these documents are less than a year old, and more than 30 percent are less than three months old. Commercial messages are not accepted.
