The agenda for the Association of Corporate Travel Executives’ (ACTE) Latin America Education Conference, 29-30 October, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City, will provide participants with a better understanding of the impact of globalization on people and national economies. Four keynote presenters will address the critical economic and competitive issues affecting business travel management in the region.
“The combined business acumen of these keynote presenters is extraordinary, and we are honored to have them speak at ACTE’s first Latin America Education Conference,” said Ricardo Ferreira, ACTE Latin America Board Member and Director, ALATUR.
Each speaker will give a unique Latin American perspective, balanced with global insight, in their presentations. The general sessions will examine the shifting employment patterns in the modern economy, and if globalization encourages a “race to the bottom” in social and environmental standards.
The growing challenges that airlines will face the remainder of this year and in 2009 reinforce the need for change, and effective leadership is critical to deliver economic benefits and shape a successful future for Latin America aviation. The presentation, Panorama of the Latin American Industry, given by Rafael Alonso, Senior Vice President Latin America, Spain & Caribbean Customer Affairs, Airbus, will analyze current macroeconomic challenges that are impacting our daily lives as never before, such as the price of oil.
Dr. Jaime Alonso Gómez, National Dean, Professor of Strategy and International Management for the Graduate School of Business Administration and Leadership (EGADE) in Monterrey, Mexico, will give the opening keynote address, Awakening the Sleeping Giant. The effects of globalization on businesses and countries in Latin America will be addressed by Dr. Ricardo Ernst, Managing Director for the Georgetown University Latin America Board, and a Professor at the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. In his presentation, Globalization, Competitiveness and Governability in Latin America. Dr. Ernst will deliver tools available to managers and politicians to design better strategies to benefit their respective businesses.
Manuel Tessi Parisi, President, INSIDE - Comunicación Interna Estratégica, will speak at the session, The Roundtable Challenge: Overcoming Cultural Resistance. He will focus on three major topics: Integrating CSR into Your Business, Online-booking Tool Adoption, and Travel Policy Compliance.
Following his keynote presentation, attendees will participate in an interactive roundtable discussion facilitated by Tessi Parisi.
The education sessions for the conference were designed with the travel buyer in mind and will provide real-world solutions and resources. Education sessions will include: Opportunities to Offset Rising Costs, Trans-Latin Companies: The New “Conquistadores” of America, The Perfect Storm for Telepresencing, Video Conferencing & Mobility, Supplier Relationship Management, Travel Management Workshop (Corporate Buyers Only), and Strategic Meetings Management Workshop in conjunction with MPI Brazil Chapter.
General sessions at the ACTE Latin America Education Conference will be conducted in Spanish, and translated into Portuguese and English. Education sessions will be conducted in the native language of the presenter.
