Singapore (14 Aug. 2008) – The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE), the global professional body representing the practice of managed travel among corporate buyers and suppliers of business travel, and renowned for excellence in providing educational opportunities to the global business travel industry, is in high gear with preparations for its upcoming regional conference. The association’s Asia-Pacific Education Conference, 20-21 August, will see more than 400 senior corporate executives attend its annual conference in Singapore, where an entire curriculum ba
Companies from more than 20 countries, ranging from Global 500 to significant regional corporations, will be in Singapore for this conference. Heads of finance, procurement, human resources and corporate services will convene for two days of interaction and inspiration as they discuss the regional and global trends in business travel, and present innovative solutions that have worked for their own companies.
“It is vitally important that medium-sized companies recognise how the practice of managing business travel can be adapted to suit their unique situations and deliver very encouraging cost-savings,” said Kenneth Phua, ACTE Regional Director, Asia-Pacific. “There are practical ways to use travel as an effective means of conducting regional business and still maintain control on costs, which have worked well for many companies throughout the Asia-Pacific region. At this conference, corporate managers from both global and regional companies will demonstrate how to accomplish these goals.”
The entire span of educational topics at the conference will focus on supply chain management and the integration of procurement elements into the practice of business travel management. With fuel charges driving up the cost of air travel and ground transportation, cost containment and cost reduction will take centre stage as an educational theme. Complementing the emphasis on cost will be discussions on integrating green practices within corporate travel programmes.
Specially chosen keynote presentations will expand the focus of conference education to business drivers across the region, including an address by Rama Bijapurkar, director of India’s market-leading IT company, Infosys; Eric Conrad, leader of IBM’s Travel & Transportation practice in the Asia-Pacific region, and Stephen Frost, director of CSR Asia.
