Dunton-Tinnus announced the winners of the CSR Mobility Awards at the ceremony, in addition to René Waßmer from VCD, Dieter Brübach from B.A.U.M. e.V and Gernot Zielonka from DMM. “ACTE is extremely honored that VCD asked us to partner with them in giving this award to environmentally conscious corporations,” she said. “We look forward to a continued collaboration with VCD on their Green Business Travel Project, and remain committed to working with them to develop guidelines for business travellers and their companies for green best practices.”

“Corporate Social Responsibility is an important initiative that all companies need to take,” said Sonja Gehrig CSR Manager, INFRAS. “However, the programs need to be implemented using a holistic approach with top management acting as a role model.”
At the beginning of 2008, VCD and ACTE announced its partnership on the Green Business Travel Project, which will provide companies, and the public sector, with a toolkit on the ecological aspects of planning and taking business trips. Checklists and a cost calculator will identify those areas in which travel practices can be made more environmentally friendly, as well as enable them to estimate expenses.
The toolkit also will contain practical green measures that can be taken by a company in the areas of organization and administration, fleet management, choosing means of transportation and accommodation. It is scheduled for publication in Fall 2008.
ACTE officially launched its CSR Initiative in the Fall of 2004, and was the first organization in the business travel industry to recognize this key issue, and to educate members on the positive corporate and social benefits of sound CSR practices.
ACTE’s CSR Program is member driven and is lead by a Global CSR Committee represented by leading organizations across the industry and around the world. It offers a comprehensive programme on relevant CSR issues for corporate travel buyers, hotels, airlines and TMCs, including practical tools and resources, and innovative education events with leading experts and state-of-the-art research.
The Committee also develops strategic alliances with leading organizations to provide a wide choice of innovative, inspirational and integrated solutions as well as expert speakers on key relevant CSR issues such as carbon management, labour migration and corporate duty of care.
ACTE will convene a Global Business Summit, “Mainstreaming CSR in Business Travel Management – The Strategic Role of the Corporate Travel Industry,” as an integral part of this year’s Asia-Pacific Education Conference in Singapore, 20-21 August 2008. This high-profile panel session will focus on the impacts, challenges and solutions surrounding CSR and the business travel industry, and highlight how the industry can integrate responsible business travel management practices into its fr
