Alexandria, Va. -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) announced today that Boyd Matson, National Geographic television host and adventurer, will be a keynote presenter at the association's Global Education Conference in Rome, 5 - 7 October 2008. Matson will discuss the warning signs of climate change and offer insights as to how the developed world can reverse its potentially devastating effects.
"We feel very privileged to have Boyd Matson speak at our Rome conference,” Susan Gurley, ACTE Global Executive Director, said. “His rare insider’s perspective on the challenges currently facing the environment is not only timely, but reflects ACTE’s commitment to sustainability through our Corporate Social Responsibility charter. We look forward to hearing Boyd’s speech, and stand ready to do our part, and go to the next level required, to help reverse climate change.”
As the long-time host of the Emmy award-winning National Geographic Explorer TV series, Matson had the envious job of traveling to exotic locations and joining thrilling expeditions. Matson has rappelled into sinkholes, climbed mountains, and been bitten by more snakes than he cares to count. His audience gladly goes along for the ride, safely experiencing his thrilling adventures without leaving the comfort of home.
Matson’s background as a television journalist includes stints as co-anchor of ABC’s World News Now and NBC’s Sunday Today, and host of CNBC’s The Real Story. He is currently the host of a new National Geographic series airing on PBS called Wild Chronicles, offering rare access and in-depth reporting on the state of the natural world, and the issues that affect us all.
