The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE), in partnership with Corporate Travel World, today announced that Arturo Sarukhan, Ambassador of Mexico to the United States, will speak at the association’s Washington, D.C. Global Education Conference on U.S.-Mexico relations. The Ambassador is scheduled to speak at 4:30p.m., Monday, 19 May at the Grand Hyatt Washington.
“As a global association, ACTE understands the importance of open dialogue between nations, and we are honored to have Ambassador Sarukhan speak at our Washington,D.C. conference,” Susan Gurley, ACTE Global Executive Director, said. “ACTE recognizes Latin America as a key growth area for the corporate travel industry. In 2008 alone, we have held or will hold education events in Buenos Aires, Bogotá, San Jose de Costa Rica, Santiago, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Guadalajara, as well as two in Mexico City, including an inaugural Latin American Education Conference.”
Ambassador Sarukhan was born in Mexico City in 1963. Prior to his current post, Mr. Sarukhan served as the top foreign policy advisor and international spokesperson to President Calderon during the presidential campaign and in the transition team. A career diplomat, he also served as Consul General of Mexico in New York, and as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Foreign Relations.
He obtained a BA in International Relations (1988) from El Colegio de México and read History at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Recipient of the Fulbright Scholar and Ford Foundation Fellow Scholarships (1989), Mr. Sarukhan received an MA in U.S. Foreign Policy from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of the Johns Hopkins University, in Washington, D.C. (1991).
ACTE will host two events in Mexico City during 2008: An Executive Forum on 2 July, with keynote speaker Everardo Elizondo, Vice Governor, Banco de México, and the inaugural Latin America Education Conference, 29-30 October.
