Alexandria, VA -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has named Doug Weeks, Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing and Global Travel for Booz Allen Hamilton, as President-Elect effective January 1, 2008. Weeks becomes President following the end of Richard Crum's term. An eleven-year veteran of the travel management profession, Weeks has served as both an industry consultant and a business travel manager.
In his current capacity, Weeks is responsible for the sourcing and contract management of travel commodities and services (including airlines, hotels, car rentals and ground transportation services, travel management companies, and online booking solutions) for an approximately $200 million (USD) annual T&E; spend.
Weeks’ has been a member of ACTE since 2000, and he has served as a member of the 2004 ACTE Steering Committee for the Global Conference in Stockholm. He has also actively participated in a number of supplier corporate advisory boards including Travelport, American Airlines, Starwood Hotels, and JetBlue.
In a statement to ACTE’s Nominating Committee, Weeks said, “I think one of the greatest deliverables of this association is to assist its membership in further growing their value and skills within their respective organizations. This will enable them to create new opportunities, advance the cause of their travelers, and increase their corporate influence.”
Two critical issues for the immediate future, as assessed by Weeks, are corporate social responsibility and congestion.
“I also believe the continuation of corporate social responsibility issues must continue” said Weeks. “Beyond being the right thing to do it is going to be a staple of the business community moving forward as organizations will be forced to adapt much like was the case with Sarbanes/Oxley several years ago.”
“I am pleased to welcome Doug Weeks to the ranks of ACTE leadership and look forward to working with him in the future,” said Richard Crum, ACTE’s President. “I’d like to thank him for coming forward to run for the position and his company for encouraging participation on this high level.”
