Alexandria, VA -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has announced its expansion of ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to be implemented at the ACTE Global Education Conference in Munich, 21-23 October 2007. ACTE, which launched the first low-carbon business travel conference, is continuing to lead the business travel profession in raising awareness of climate change issues, and the impact of the industry on a sustainable future.
In an effort to increase understanding and create a top-down approach to leadership, ACTE has recently announced the Global Education Conference in Munich will not only be the third ACTE carbon-low event, a tradition started with the Barcelona 2006 Conference, but provide attendees with “Socially Responsible Conference Takeaways.” These socially responsible takeaways include, among others, flash drives to download whitepapers and presentations, 100% recycled lanyards, tote bags made from 25% post-consumer recycled material, and a Solutions Showcase which recognizes exhibitors with “green” solutions.
Additionally, ACTE will provide attendees with Integrating Sustainability into Your Global Supply Chain - a white paper identify leading practices and processes for incorporating sustainable purchasing of travel products and services into the travel programme’s procurement strategy - and two education sessions titled ‘Integrating Carbon Neutrality into your Corporate Travel Supply Chain’ and ‘Implementing a Carbon Reduction Policy’. ACTE members will then have the opportunity to visit the ACTE Munich Post-Event Site which will feature Green Sponsor Resources, session presentations, survey results, and more for download.
Susan Gurley, ACTE Global Executive Director, commented “It is essential that ACTE and our members recognize the importance of joint cooperation, intelligent partnership choices, and educational resources as fundamental tools in the Corporate Social Responsibility context. ACTE is committed to promoting the economic prosperity of the business travel industry in conjunction with environmental protection; as such, ACTE has extended CSR initiatives to upcoming ACTE Events.”
Since 2006, ACTE has increased CSR initiatives in-house and provided members with resources and educational seminars stressing the importance of green technology solutions and precautionary approaches to reduce environmental impact. In 2007, ACTE joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) with specific reference to the UNGC three principles relating to environmental practices.
