Alexandria, Va -- The concept of "shared services" was introduced as a hot new business trend twenty years ago, about the same time the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) was founded as a new model for travel management professional organizations. Now on the eve of association's twentieth anniversary, Denice Kronau, the head of Global Shared Services for Siemens AG, will present a dynamic summary on the final generation of the idea that continually produces new strategic gains and business benefits, to the general assembly of ACTE's Global Education Conference in Munich, on October 23, 2007.
"Just as ACTE gradually changed the landscape for industry associations, the concept of 'shared services' elevated business travel to the crown jewel of global, fully integrated processes," said Susan Gurley, the association's executive director. "And who would be better than Denice Kronau, the leading authority on the subject for one of the most progressive companies in Germany."
Established in October 2006, Siemens' Global Shared Services corporate center is responsible for managing and delivering high quality, cost effective back-office processes for the customers around the world. Kronau is responsible for ultimately upholding the GSS mission - to strengthen Siemens´ competitiveness by owning, providing and continuously improving common support processes for GSS customers. As of October 1, 2007 the GSS will have 7,400 employees worldwide and sales of €1.2 billion. Most recently, Kronau served as President and CEO of Siemens Shared Services (SSL) in the US, where she was responsible for formulating the ongoing vision and strategy for the company overall, as well as focusing on developing new services.
Denice Kronau joins Gianpiero Petriglieri, Affiliate Professor of Organisational Behavior for Insead; and Martin Walker, Senior Director of the Global Business Policy Council for A.T. Kearney, Inc., as a world-class member of the ACTE Global Education Conference faculty for Munich. Though international in scope, the Munich conference offers a strong European agenda, and has attracted one of the largest percentages of new corporate members in ACTE's history.
