Toronto -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executive's (ACTE) commitment to membership service and providing an unbiased forum for open debate has brought it greater membership loyalty and educational opportunities -- than a cash buyout of an existing organization might have done. The recent merger of the Canadian Business Travel Association-West (CBTA-W) with ACTE this month caps a decade of volunteer investment by ACTE's Canadian members in educational programs held regularly throughout the year from Vancouver to Montreal. It also brings ACTE membership in Canada past the 300 mark.
"ACTE's growth in Canada reflects a mutual respect for the sophistication and scope of Canadian travel management executives and the cultural sensitivity of this association's leadership," said Executive Director Susan Gurley. "ACTE's commitment has taken the form of Executive Forums and PowerTalks since 1997, and now we have introduced an annual ACTE Canada Education Conference. As a result, our Canadian constituency feels confident in their voluntary investment.
CBTA-W followed the lead of its sister organization, the Canadian Business Travel Association-East (CBTA-E), which merged with ACTE last year. Gurley added that both CBTA organizations constituted the oldest and most influential segments of the Canadian business travel market. Both organizations approached ACTE in 2005 with a suggestion of working together, prior to a merger agreement. "It is an honor to have the members of these two organizations decide that ACTE was the most appropriate vehicle to serve their respective members educational needs."
"ACTE's investment in education and networking in Canada is leading up to the ACTE Canada Education Conference, 18-20 November 2007, in Calgary."
