Alexandria, VA -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives has appointed Onita Dey-Frankian, CTC, Business Development Manager for BCD Travel, to the post of Industry and Association Liaison for ACTE Canada. According to a statement issued by Acts Executive Director Susan Gurley, Dey-Frankian will be responsible for identifying and reaching out to various organizations and professional groups in Canada that share the association’s interests in key initiatives.
“There are a number of professional associations and other groups in Canada serving meeting planners, purchasing agents, environmental specialists, and human resource executives in Canada,” said Susan Gurley. “Many of these organizations have parallel interests in travel safety, security, privacy issues, advanced managerial techniques and corporate social responsibility. In her new position, Onita Dey-Frankian will explore the potential of working with these groups and forming alliances.”
As ACTE Canada’s former Regional Chair, Dey-Frankian is uniquely poised for the assignment. She has been prominent in advocating travel management issues for over a decade, is recognized as an industry authority in the travel trade press, and is well-respected for her ongoing analysis of developing travel trends in Canada.
“Exploring the potential for working with other associations with parallel interests in Canada is a logical progression for ACTE,” said Dey-Frankian. “Professional associations serving diverse groups are finding out that they are impacted by security matters, privacy issues, global health concerns, environmental developments, and economic challenges -- all common to the business travel management profession. It stands to reason that we may be able to accomplish more when we can work together on a particular issue.”
Dey-Frankian further noted that alliance-building in Canada is in keeping with the association’s expanded educational agenda for the region. Last year, ACTE added a national education conference to a program that already included several executive forums and PowerTalks. At present, a PowerTalk and networking dinner is scheduled for February 21, 2007 in Montreal, followed by an Executive Forum in Calgary on March 1, 2007.
