Montreal, QC -- Business travel professionals in Canada are anticipating the “Perspectives from the Top: Distribution Eye Opener” session to bring some clarity in a world of complexities. Travel Managers in Canada are seeking to find the right ways to ensure their travel program components of service, controls, compliance and security are met whilst the distribution landscape continuously changes. This will be one of the key issues addressed at an upcoming general session at the ACTE Canada Education Conference in Montreal November 19-21, 2006.
On November 20th, Michael Bingham, Partner of the BottomLine Group consulting firm, will facilitate a panel discussion with three top industry experts: James Davidson, President, Farelogix, Marc Rosenberg, Vice President, Sales and Product Distribution, Air Canada, and David Schwarte, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Sabre Holdings.
Prior to the widespread use of the Internet, and deregulation of the Global Distribution Systems(GDS) in 2004, suppliers including airlines, hotels, and car rental companies relied heavily on the GDSs to provide them with a broad channel to distribute their fares.
Today, some suppliers are balancing broad Content access with lowering Distribution costs. They are looking at alternatives to the GDS such as providing clients with a direct connection to their inventory of fares or offering better value by purchasing directly through the Internet. For a corporation trying to manage the needs of hundreds of travellers, while keeping their own costs down, these new distribution options may be both cause for concern and optimism.
“Perspectives from the Top” promises to address the issues that are concerning Corporate Canada regarding today’s distribution landscape, provide a glimpse into the future of the industry and leave the attendees with insights into what they should be thinking of when managing their travel programs in this new and dynamic travel distribution environment.
