ACTE
Summits Connect Hundreds of Business Travel Professionals
(Alexandria,
Virginia, USA , October 22, 2001) - The Association of Corporate
Travel Executives (ACTE), an international organization composed
of senior level travel management professionals and suppliers
of business travel services has successfully held a series of
Regional Summits in 14 key cities throughout the United States
and Europe. The summits drew participation from over 500 travel
executives. Themed, "Recovery: How Do We Get There?", these unique
meetings facilitated a progressive forum for jumpstarting the
business travel community's return to efficiency and profitability.
The summits
were held under the direction of Greeley Koch, ACTE's vice president
of education and senior vice president of corporate travel services
for Bank of America. "We were extremely pleased with the response
we received for tackling the anxiety and uncertainty in the industry
head-on," said Koch. The following recurring issues were raised
as essential components of travel industry recovery:
"It was amazing,
attendees were able to hear and respond to the discussions of
their peers in cities miles away and did so with an enthusiastic
and aggressive approach to problem solving. This industry is ready
to move forward," said ACTE president Ron Wagner. Meanwhile, ACTE's
executive director Nancy Holtzman is focused on the future, "ACTE
will continue to bring our community together to ensure that industry
professionals are able to connect with their peers and discuss
critical issues regarding the new challenges of an inevitably
altered business travel environment," she said.
Detailed
summaries of each summit are now available on the ACTE Web
site, www.acte.org. A compilation of regional issues will be published
in a "Sense Of The Industry" report. This valuable report will
also be available on the site next week. Moving forward, ACTE
will schedule opportunities for members to become involved in
actual implementation of the many identified solutions and will
continue with accelerated plans for Web-based distance learning
programs.
Founded in
1988, the Association of Corporate Travel Executives is the only
organization wholly dedicated to the science of business travel
management with an international constituency. ACTE membership totals
more than 2,400, including entities in Asia, Europe, Canada and
the United States. The organization is headquartered in Alexandria,
Va., and its web site is www.acte.org.
