ACTE Moves into High Gear in Asia-Pacific Region

December 17, 2002 (Alexandria, Virginia, USA) The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE), an international organisation dedicated to the advancement of the business travel industry, is stepping up its activities throughout Asia-Pacific in 2002.

Effective January 1, 2002, Kenneth Phua will be ACTE's Director of Asia-Pacific. Phua, who is based in Singapore, is highly respected in the Asia-Pacific business travel industry. He will use his extensive, high-level network in the travel industry to provide leadership and direction for ACTE in the region. Phua was one of the first ACTE volunteer leaders in Asia, a former chair of the ACTE Singapore Sub-committee, ACTE's first Asia Regional Council Education Representative, and the recipient of the 2000 ACTE President's Award.

"The appointment of Kenneth Phua will allow ACTE to conduct a focused assessment of the unique needs of individual markets in the Asia-Pacific region and draw key data for designing appropriate educational events." stated Ron Wagner, President, ACTE. "Education will be based on the respective stages of development and practice of the travel management discipline within each country."

In 2002, under the direction of Kennth Phua, ACTE will offer an expanded educational programme in Asia-Pacific. ACTE will independently develop and deliver 9 Executive Forums as well as a two-day Executive Symposium. The expanded programme will allow ACTE to better support travel management professionals who are challenged with a rapidly changing corporate travel environment and an economic downturn. In addition to developing new programs, Phua will be responsible for enhancing the level of member services provided by the ACTE office in Singapore. He will also focus on increasing and strengthening ACTE's membership base throughout the region.

With the addition of Kenneth Phua, ACTE has three fully functional offices representing the following regions - Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America. "These three offices will allow ACTE to provide quality educational programmes and peer-to-peer networking opportunities for travel management professionals worldwide." stated Nancy Holtzman, Executive Director, ACTE.

Founded in 1988, the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) is a member-driven organisation wholly dedicated to the science of business travel management with an international constituency. ACTE membership totals more than 2,400, including business travel executives in Asia-Pacific, Canada, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the United States. The organisation is headquartered in Alexandria, Va., with regional offices located in Brussels, and Singapore. ACTE's web site is www.acte.org.
