Business Travel Group Bares Trade Secrets At Toronto Forum
|
Toronto (23 Nov.) -- Executives from the leading companies in Canada will
bare the secrets of advanced travel management at the Association of Corporate
Travel Executives Forum in Toronto, on 1 December 2004. Titled "The Full
Monty... Show Us Everything You've Got," the agenda will focus on the the future
strategies of the Canadian airline industry, benchmarking for travel program
operations, meetings consolidation, and new technology.
"There was a time when the leaders of the travel management profession chose
to keep their trade secrets," said Garth Jopling, ACTE President. "But they've
decided to come clean in the best interests of advancing the industry and the
economy. This is a great opportunity for executives to get on the inside
track to a tighter bottom line, stronger growth, and faster profitability."
The program will open with an analytical look at the strategies of Canadian
carriers, with a special emphasis on pricing and distribution. ACTE identified
distribution as a critical contributor to cost nearly a year before the
dramatic GDS deregulation. Consequently, the association offers some of the best
interpretive study on the impact of distribution on projected costs.
Aviva Klein -- Product Manager, Visa, Canada -- will deliver an industry
perspective on e-ordering, e-billing, and e-payment in the T&E; sector.
Successful business travel management programs hinge on matching corporate
objectives with control and measurement. The agenda's third presentation will
reveal a comparative analysis technique that identifies performance gaps and
best practices. Above all, it will simplify the benchmarking process as it
applies to operations. This technique will be demonstrated by Jim Lee, Executive
Director, Travel Services Benchmarking Network. Lee perfected this practice, and
others, in his former role of Director of Global Travel Services for
Honeywell.
A special keynote presentation from John J. Kirton, Director of the G8
Research Group, University of Toronto, will detail business travel challenges for
the next century, and the major economic and political issues that will
accompany them. Kirton served as a Special Projects Officer in Canada's Department of
Foreign Affairs and International Trade, where he devised a strategy for
Canada's G7 participation. He has conducted media analyses of the G7/G8 Summits on
behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. ACTE
educational programs use an inverted pyramid structure that relates the global
picture to the travel management industry in general, and then to the region.
This forum is no exception and provide a long-range international perspective
to the subject matter.
While growth is certainly a key issue for travel managers, new areas of cost
containment continue to occupy the corporate limelight. One of the most
logical of these is meetings consolidation. This forum will provide the most
compelling reasons (results) for upper management to initiate this process. It will
be presented by Kathy Pavelich, Director, Travel Management, TELUS, who has
oversight of a $65 million travel spend. And to make the process easier,
experts in the field will be available to discuss technology designed for strategic
meetings management -- at the event's concluding technology showcase.
The event will be open to any pre-registered member of the press. The event
will be held at the Holiday Inn on King, 370 King Street West, Toronto, ON,
Canada M5V IJ9 (t:416-599-4000)
