ACTE X New Orleans: A Double Celebration

ACTE X New Orleans has special significance: Not only is it the tenth annual members conference, but it is being held at the site of ACTE's first educational event. The event, themed "Best Practices and All That Jazz," will be held May 31-June 3, 1998 at the New Orleans Hilton ,Riverside. A record 1,000 senior-level corporate travel executives will be attending.

The 1998 program, developed with the input of leading travel industry executives, will provide information on late-breaking trends, including new distribution channels, the changing role of travel agencies, new strategies for contracts, establishing global airline programs, communicating with travelers and senior management, and re-engineering the T and Eprocess.

As always, keynote speakers at ACTE X New Orleans are some of the biggest names in the corporate travel arena. Gordon Bethune, Chairman and CEO of Continental Airlines, will recap the remarkable turnaround of the carrier. Richard Wallman, CEO and Senior Vice President of AlliedSignal, Inc., will talk about his company's successful T and Ecost reduction initiative. William Lobeck, President/Automotive Group for Republic Industries, will give an update on the issues facing the car rental industry. Fred Kleisner,President and COO, The Americas Hotel Group for Starwood Hotels and Resorts will talk about the fastpaced change in the hospitality industry, and the Honorable James Oberstar, a U.S. Congressman who serves as ranking Democrat on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, will provide an overview of current legislation affecting the U.S. aviation industry.

The conference also will feature an ACTE educational specialty: thetechnology track. Sessions will offer in-depth coverage of supplier distribution strategies in the on-line world, corporate intranets, electronic commerce and automating the expense report process. A "do-it-yourself" toolkit is designed to encourage travelers to use self-booking and expense report software.

In all technology track courses, the emphasis is on hands-on learning, according to Danny Hood, Chairman of the ACTE Technology Committee, which worked closely with the ACTE X New Orleans Planning Committee. The programs will be geared to attendees with various levels of expertise in travel technology, Hood said.

Audiotapes of the educational sessions will be available for sale during and after the conference. For additional information, contact 1-800-375-ACTE or check the ACTE website at www.acte.org for the order form.
