CHANGING ROLE OF THE TRAVEL MANAGER TASK FORCE

FOCUS:

  • To develop a business case rationale and documentation to advance progress toward a broader strategic role for executives responsible for travel management by:
    • Defining the expanded role and responsibilities of the corporate travel executive required to support this new strategic approach.
    • Developing a plan to promote and communicate the need for expanding the travel management role.
    • Outlining the skill set required to fulfill this new role.
    • Identifying existing skill gaps and educational / developmental needs.
    • Recommending programs to address these needs.

  • Throughout 2003 - ACTE educational programming designed to address the educational and developmental needs outlined in the white paper.
  • October 2003 - ACTE presents member survey results and analysis in the ACTE Global Business Journal. Article titled 'Data Management and European Protection Legislation'.
  • November - December 2002 - ACTE white paper discussed at ACTE Forums worldwide.
  • October 2002 - ACTE issues white paper titled "The Changing Role of the Travel Manager - A Perspective".
  • October 2002 - ACTE presents survey findings and conclusions at the Global Conference in Munich.
  • September 2002 - ACTE conducts both surveys and interviews with senior executives to understand current and future senior management expectations.
  • September 2002 - ACTE conducts survey of corporate members worldwide to assess reporting relationships, changes in responsibilities, senior management interaction, program development, and skill assessment.
