Ethics
Preamble
The
primary purpose of the Association of Corporate Travel Executives
is to assist its members in the growth and increased profitability
of their companies in order to help them achieve the highest competitive,
professional standards within their selected fields. Equally important
is the manner in which we strive to accomplish our goals; by encouraging
open discussion and interaction, and by providing collective educational
seminars.
ACTE requires all members to exercise to the highest standards of
integrity, ethics and fairness in all transactions and relationships.
Ethical behavior in ACTE stems from leadership by example and the
selection to membership of individuals who demonstrate ethical behavior.
Failure to adhere to these principles may subject a member to actions,
as set forth in ACTE's Bylaws.
Truth
ACTE members will be factual and accurate when providing information
about their purchasing requirements, volume, products and the
services of any firm they represent. They will not use deceptivepractices,
either among themselves, their competitors or their customers.
An ACTE member shall not, in exchange for money or otherwise,
provide travel agent credentials to any person as to whom there
is no reasonable expectation that the person will engage of the
member through the period of validity of such credentials. This
principle applies to the ACTE member and all affiliated or commonly
controlled enterprises.
ACTE members will not falsely represent a person's affiliation
with their firm, or misrepresent the nature of ACTE, or the nature
of their relationship with another ACTE member.
Confidentiality
ACTE members will not use improperly obtained client lists or other
confidential information obtained from an employee's former employer.
Further, ACTE members will not share confidential information obtained
from other ACTE members with non-ACTE personnel or companies.
ACTE members will treat preferred vendor agreements, and solicited
proposals confidentially and not disclose any information without
consent on behalf of the information provider.
Conflict
of Interest
ACTE members will not allow any preferred relationship with a supplier
to interfere with the interests of their clients or company, nor
will they offer or accept any gratuity, gift or favor which would
unfairly influence decisions or actions. They will use complimentary
services or materials only if there is a current interest or potential
interest in placing business with that supplier in the foreseeable
future.
Compliance
ACTE members shall abide by all applicable federal, state and local
laws and regulations. They will not attempt to influence others
to violate these same tenets on their behalf.
Harmful
Action
ACTE members will not knowingly take any action or engage in any
activity that will be injurious or damaging to ACTE or any other
members of ACTE.
Participants in ACTE functions will not intentionally distract attention
from a competitor's sponsorship event.
