Monday 2 MAYM101- GOING GLOBAL ONLINE: UNDERSTANDING THE CULTURAL NUANCES View This Presentation As acceptance of online booking tools continues to grow outside of North America and Europe, multinational corporations are aggressively expanding their online travel programs to Latin America and Asia as part of an effort to consolidate travel processes worldwide. This session examined both the technical and cultural areas that must be understood before a tool can be implemented and adoption achieved. M102 - SEARCHING FOR CONTENT This session surveyed the field of travel data aggregators and their improved ability for more comprehensive content. Recently emerged GDS alternatives will be reviewed and assessed for their ability to provide content to the business travel market. As procurement continues to define practices within corporate travel purchasing, e-auctions are beginning to gain momentum as a sourcing tool for travel products and services beyond those envisioned just a few years ago. Learn from the recent experiences of corporations and vendors who have participated in e-auction processes and gain insight into what sector this tool most likely will be used for next. M104 - TECHNOLOGY OPTIMIZATION: WHAT ELSE CAN THIS SYSTEM DO FOR ME? View This Presentation ROI for technology is usually wrapped around the core solution promised by the travel tool. Beyond the primary function of the tool is very likely a wealth of data, automation of good business practice, and better policy compliance. The key to tapping into these secondary benefits lies in preparation and exploitation that yield significantly broader benefits of shared information, data analysis, and overall value to the travel program. This session examined the technology backbone of rate loading and auditing, as well as candidly discuss the flashpoints for disagreements and provide practical insight into solutions for optimizing the hotel program. M202 - ADVANCING THE INDUSTRY ROUNDTABLE - PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT View This Presentation - With Industry Sector Breakdown View This Presentation Through facilitated discussion, industry representatives weighed in on issues and trends surrounding performance measurement in the industry. Roundtable discussion highlights were captured electronically for spurring additional debate among participants. M203- TRAVEL MANAGEMENT VALIDATION: WHAT'S MORE IMPORTANT THAN SAVINGS? View This Presentation If suppliers no longer offered discounts, then what's the use of having a managed travel program? How should forward-thinking procurement and travel managers communicate the full value of their travel programs to senior management? This session will apply a blend of procurement, finance, and change management metrics to the challenge of measuring a managed travel program's true value. Delegates received a self-scoring program valuation model and benchmarking tool. M204 - SIX SIGMA FOR THE VENDOR View This Presentation With a re-energized focus on quality processes, many corporations are enlarging their embrace of Six Sigma within their organizations to include the area of travel. Six Sigma companies expect their vendor partners to respond in kind to their rigorous quest for perfection. Learn how to prepare for gaining and keeping the business of a Six Sigma client. M205 - FINDING GOLD IN THAT MOUNTAIN OF DATA View This Presentation This session will explored the sources, expectations and limitations of travel data. A scrutiny of "leakage points" of corporate travel data will be covered, as well as the renewed imperative for preventing unauthorized access in response to recent well-publicized breaches. M206 - ANALYZE TO UNDERSTAND & IMPROVE View This Presentation The corporation is increasingly placing a high value on the analysis function of travel management. Caused by the increased vigilance in cost containment during a time of rapidly changing costs and pricing structures in the travel supply chain, analysis is coming to the forefront of activities that travel management delivers value on. This session will covered specific examples of data analysis recently employed by travel managers to address cost issues in their travel program, followed by a review of relevant tools, techniques, and resources that you can apply to your analysis tasks. TUESDAY 3 MAYT101 - MODEL BUILDING FOR COMPETITION IN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY AND TRAVELER WELFARE This session offered an economist's model of the airline industry that examines traveler welfare in terms of demand, price and frequency, and speculates on resulting scenarios--and the avoidance of such scenarios--when the dynamics of the model change. T102 - DISTRIBUTION ECONOMICS: WHO'S GOING TO PAY? Many corporates think it is a little like playing poker as they anticipate the outcomes of the expiration of agreements between their airline partners and the GDSs they use. This interactive session brought together multiple perspectives for an open discussion about expected radical changes to the present distribution economic model. T103- ADVANCING THE INDUSTRY ROUNDTABLE - CONSOLIDATION View This Presentation - With Industry Sector Breakdown View This Presentation This roundtable discussion will focused on the prospects for further consolidation and convergence in the business travel industry and the impact that consolidation will have on pricing and service. T104 - OPEN SKIES: HAPPENING IN AN AIRSPACE NEAR YOU? View This Presentation Despite on again-off again talks, there is nothing yet to report on any headway towards creating a transatlantic open aviation area - a.k.a. Open Skies. This session explored the benefits and threats to a deregulated airline industry and the global business customers that it serves, as well as what it will take to move this concept forward. T105 - STREAMLINING THROUGH OUTSOURCING View This Presentation Despite its status as the second largest controllable expense for a corporation, travel -- either partially or large components thereof -- is among a number of corporate functions that are being outsourced. Many view outsourcing as a best practice for non-strategic activities to achieve a higher degree of cost management. What is the track record for outsourcing travel? What outsourced functions produce the greatest gains and what does this trend mean for the role of the corporate travel manager? T201 - MANAGING TRAVEL PROGRAMS IN EMERGING MARKETS - INDIA View This Presentation This session will explored how multinational companies can successfully establish managed travel programs in emerging markets where demand for travel services and products far outpaces supply, with a special emphasis on lessons learned through recent experience in India. Attendant with the rise of this new super-center for commerce is the extension of managed travel programs into China from multinational corporations. T203 - THE FINE BALANCE BETWEEN PRIVACY AND SECURITY View This Presentation What should you know about privacy and the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) initiatives? The controversy is raging about passenger (and corporate) privacy rights as they conflict with the need to secure US airspace and ports. As individuals and companies are asked to disclose more and more information, it is essential that travel managers have a firm understanding of their rights. Learn how to work with your company's Privacy Officer to secure both your travelers' safety and their privacy. T204 - SHOULD CANADA LIBERALIZE ITS SKIES? View This Presentation This session will examined the proposition to liberalize Canadian skies, popularly known as "cabotage," and review the considerations that need to be made to ensure the sustainability of a strong air transportation system in Canada to continue economic growth. |
