New Environments for Travel Management

Chicago
19 June 2008
Hotel Sax Chicago

This half-day Executive Forum will examine the changing environments under which travel management is now practiced, focusing on:
• The overlay of procurement discipline requiring a more rigorous and structured approach to the oversight and fulfillment of vendor agreements
• Changing fuel costs and dollar valuation are forcing airlines to change their yield management models
• New revenue sources for domestic airlines and new entrant international carriers are adding complexity and fragmentation to traditional distribution

Agenda

08:00 – 08:45

Registration & Continental Breakfast

08:45 – 09:00

ACTE Welcome & Update

09:00 – 09:45

Contract Management

Contracts are instruments that determine a large part of the ongoing relationship between buyer and seller as well as the foundation for the financials of a company.  Within the context of the travel area, this session will examine contract management practices and compare these to best in class contract lifecycle management practices that leading supplier companies employ.

09:45 – 10:15

Coffee Break

10:15 – 11:00

New Models in Airline Yield Management for a New Economic Environment

This session will examine the adjustments airlines are having to make in their yield management models to compensate for the extraordinary spike in fuel costs and the sustaining of these high costs for the long term and the attendant impact of the declining value of the dollar as network carriers turn increasingly to flying new international routes.

11:00 – 11:45

Content Fragmentation

As travel programs increase their global scope so does the incidence of finding content in multiple places increase. The industry is at a time of experimentation in which suppliers are exploring alternate methods of distribution for content as well as adding new types of “content—a la carte fees for baggage or seat assignment. This session will explore answers to the questions surrounding global content fragmentation:
    •    How can a travel manager keep a program together in this diverse environment?
    •    How can distribution costs be controlled?
    •    Does technology hold the answer?
    •    What is the role of the TMC in finding solutions?

11:45 – 13:00
