Airline Alliances : Threat or Opportunity for the Corporations ?

"Big business reached greater markets than were ever conceived of before and could benefit from the ability to raise vast amounts of capital that made possible the cost economies of large-scale production" (Chalmers). Large corporations pooled markets, centralized management and created conglomerations which had the ability to "squeeze out competitors, force down prices paid for labor and raw materials, charge customers more and get special favors and treatments from National and State government" (Chalmers).
It was the birth of monopolies. Although the driving factor behind alliances is clearly long-term profitability, their actual formation tends to be for strategic rather than for operational success. Are alliances a threat or an opportunity to the corporate? What about anti-trust in alliances? Can a corporate find benefits through negotiating with alliances? What is the value of centralized or decentralized revenue management and is it a threat? How will open skies affect the industry and what can we look for in the coming years?

Corporate Social Responsibility: Responsible Travel Management goes beyond “green”

You’ve heard the hype on the “greening” of corporate travel. How can leaders meet the challenge of creating and managing travel programs that are socially and environmentally sustainable, accountable and cost-effective.

This session will focus on :
• What is Corporate Social Responsibility ?
• Key components of “green” RFP’s
• Metrics and benchmarks
• Travel Risk Management
