Travelling Against the Trafficking of Human Cargo
Thursday, 24 August    13.00 – 14.30

Tom Ehr, Executive Director, MTV Europe Foundation
Human trafficking is on the rise, enslaving large numbers of people, particularly women and children, trapping them in sexual servitude and other forms of involuntary labor. The human trafficking industry is global, sophisticated and profitable.  It has close and pernicious ties to other criminal networks. Its spread is virtually unchecked as efforts to catch and prosecute traffickers, alert potential victims and aid the recovery of rescued victims continues to be woefully inadequate to the challenge. New thinking and approaches which Tom Ehr shared, are needed especially since this is an area which no prior knowledge of the issue is assumed.
