At-Large Board of Directors Position



Overview:

The purpose of this document is to establish the position description for the Board of Directors position.

Responsibilities of an ACTE Board of Director:

  • Develop and maintain the global strategic direction of the association
  • Assure financial soundness of the association in all areas of the world
  • Understand member needs and perceptions
  • Anticipate members' future needs
  • Focus externally on creating value and benefits for the entire membership
  • Focus on establishing direction and policy; avoiding operational efforts
  • Oversee the efforts of committees and staff
  • Attend at least one Executive Forum or Global Conference each year during term of office

Terms of Office:
  • Three years Serves as: Board Member January, 2003 through December, 2005
  • Elected by membership (Note: either regional or membership at large)

Qualifications:
  • Must be an ACTE member in good standing
  • Must be able, willing and ready to commit the time and energy necessary to lead ACTE
  • Possess a vision for the common good of the association
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the success of ACTE
  • Respected industry leader
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities and competence
  • Possess a history of volunteering in the association or relevant other professional associations
  • Has attended at least one ACTE Global Conference and one ACTE Executive Forum
  • Must have company support
