Call for Nominations For ACTE President-Elect

Are you ready to help lead a global organization dedicated to senior-level education and peer-to-peer networking, or do you know someone who is?

ACTE is seeking a professional who wants to share his/her global expertise with their corporate travel colleagues by serving as ACTE President-Elect prior to assuming the position of ACTE President. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming an ACTE Board of Director’s member now is the time to submit a nomination. In order for a nomination to be eligible the nominator must be an ACTE member.

All candidates must be ACTE members in good standing, corporate, be committed to the association's global standards for business travel management, and meet the specified qualification criteria for the desired leadership position (see position descriptions below).

 ACTE President-Elect:

The President-Elect is the second-ranking officer of ACTE and serves at the order of the Board and the membership. The President-Elect assumes the Presidency at the conclusion of his or her term. The President-Elect's efforts are directed to assisting the President and in assuming the Presidency.  Assignments are designed and designated with this purpose in mind.  The President-Elect is actively involved in supporting the President in fulfilling the goals and objectives of the Board of Directors by providing continuity to established programs and formulating future programs for which they will take responsibility for during their presidency.

The President-Elect assumes all duties and responsibilities of the President in the event the President is absent or unable to perform the President’s duties.

The President-Elect assists the President in fulfilling the President’s role by sharing specific duties and responsibilities as delegated by the President. The President-Elect also serves as an alternate spokesperson for the Association.

The ACTE President-Elect is appointed by the ACTE Board of Directors from candidates recommended by the Nominations Committee. The appointed candidate will assume the position of President-Elect from October 22, 2007 to December 31, 2008 and will succeed to the Presidency on January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010.

ACTE President

 The President is the senior volunteer leader of ACTE and serves at the order of the Board and the membership. The President is the Chair of both the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. The President has general supervision of all business and affairs of the Association and gives direction and inertia to the formulation and achievement of the Associations philosophy, mission, and strategy, and goals. The President assures that the Association is making timely progress toward the fulfillment of its strategic plan.

As Chair of the Board of Directors, the President ensures that the Board of Directors fulfills its responsibilities for the governance of ACTE and implementation of its policies and procedures. The President is the main liaison between the Board and the senior management of the Association and works in partnership with the Executive Director to help the Executive Director achieve the mission of ACTE.

The President serves as the primary spokesperson for the Association.

Length of term:  1 year as President-Elect
     2 years as President

Criteria for ACTE President-Elect & President:
The President-Elect and President will likely be able to demonstrate the following capabilities and have experience in the following areas;

1. Currently an ACTE member in good standing.
2. Commitment to ACTE mission, vision, and goals.
3. Previous volunteer leadership or Board experience, strongly recommended.
4. Previous volunteer experience in ACTE.
5. Strong record of participation in ACTE activities and programs.
6. Served in a senior management position (past or present).
7. General business management knowledge and skills: finance & budgeting, planning, marketing and sales, management, international development, mergers and acquisitions, alliances, etc.
8. Interaction with senior executives at the C-Level.
9. Ability to work effectively as a team member.
10. Ability to lead and influence others.
11. Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
12. Exceptional integrity and work ethics.
13. Experience in strategic planning, PR and the development of sponsorship opportunities.
14. Knowledge and understanding of the issues and challenges facing the business travel industry.
15. Strong leadership skills.
16. Ability to, and a commitment from their employer (if appropriate), to fulfill the time and travel commitments needed to fulfill the President’s role (Includes travel to ACTE’s various regions).

Board Appointment of President-Elect:    October 20, 2007

Announcement of New President-Elect:   October 22, 2007

Upon receipt of your recommendation, a member of the ACTE Nominations Committee will contact you or the proposed candidate to discuss the opportunity.  It will not be necessary for you to contact your candidate.
