Singapore -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) theme for the 2008 Asia-Pacific Education Conference, 21-23 August, Strategic Travel Supply Management: Moving Business Forward, reflects growing certainty among major corporations' that business travel should be treated as a strategic asset. ACTE's 2007 Asia-Pacific Education Conference attracted over 400 delegates from more then 22 countries with a large delegation attending from China and India. The conference saw a 20 percent increase in attendance from 2006 and underscored the growing importance of travel as a primary enabler of global strategy and business mobility.
Susan Gurley, ACTE’s Global Executive Director said, "Strategic travel supply intelligence provides a critical difference between a company which is able to translate its travel activity into a competitive business advantage and one that simply keeps the cost of travel in check. The ACTE 2008 Asia-Pacific Education Conference to be held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore from 20-21 August 2008 is expected to draw over 400 regional and international senior business travel executives. The conference education programme includes respected business leaders presenting keynote topics, expert managers of business travel from around the globe presenting over twelve education seminars, industry roundtable discussions, industry perspectives, the largely popular solutions showcase revealing the latest in travel technology and interactive networking functions.
Among the keynote topics are vital supply chain management issues including Strategic Supply Networks: A Competitive Advantage Emerges, a topic paying due attention to the vast potential of harnessing and translating supply chain partners' competencies to deliver superior business performance and Beyond Meeting Demand which reviews what competitive companies operating in markets characterized by hyper demand do to manage the threat of being distracted from their strategic focus. A third topic, Travel as a Shared Service demonstrates the ascent of travel as the standard of effective management of indirect categories in a global company.
