Frontier
Airlines Names Thomas W. Nunn - Director, Aviation Safety and
Regulatory Compliance
DENVER
(July 16, 2001) -
Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today named Thomas W. Nunn as
director, aviation safety and regulatory compliance, effective
July 16, 2001. In his new position, Nunn will direct and oversee
all aspects of Frontier's aviation safety program, including ensuring
the highest degree of safety and compliance with Federal Aviation
Administration regulations, performing internal safety audits
and overseeing the airline's emergency response procedures. Nunn,
44, will report directly to Frontier President Sam Addoms. Nunn
replaces the airline's former Director of Aviation Safety and
Regulatory Compliance Wayne Elliott, who retired earlier this
year. "Tom brings a great depth of knowledge in aviation safety
as well as a broad range of aviation industry experience to Frontier
and we welcome his contributions in this very important area,
particularly as we transition our airline to an all-Airbus fleet,"
said Addoms.
Nunn,
a 21-year commercial airline veteran, most recently served as
director, emergency management for Northwest Airlines, where he
was responsible for that airline's emergency response procedures.
Since 1983, Nunn has held a variety of other positions at Northwest
Airlines, including manager, flight dispatch; manager, flight
operations administration and computer systems analyst. Nunn spent
three years in St. Paul, Minn. with Western Airlines in that airline's
fleet services department, and prior to that time, was a member
of the United States Marine Corps. Nunn holds a bachelor of science
in business administration and computer science, with a minor
in aviation, from Minnesota State University in Mankato. He completed
the Aviation Safety Program at the University of Southern California
in Los Angeles and attended the Aviation Training Institute's
Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic Program in Minneapolis. He currently
resides in Burnsville, Minn. with his wife and two daughters and
plans to relocate to Denver.
Denver-based
Frontier Airlines serves 23 cities coast to coast with a fleet
of 27 aircraft and employs approximately 2,500 aviation professionals.
The airline is the second largest jet service carrier of Denver
International Airport with an average of 120 daily systemwide
departures and arrivals. Frontier Airlines recently introduced
its own frequent flyer program, EarlyReturns, which offers one
of the fastest return programs in the industry. In June 2001,
Businessweek ranked Frontier 14th on its list of Hot Growth Companies.
In 1999 and 2000, Frontier's maintenance and engineering department
received the Federal Aviation Administration's highest award,
the Diamond Certificate of Excellence, with 100 percent of its
maintenance and engineering employees completing advanced aircraft
maintenance training programs. Frontier provides capacity and
other data and industry comparisons on its Web site, which may
