Keynote
Speakers Drive Program At ACTE Montréal Conference
January
30, 2002 (Alexandria, VA USA) -- Five keynote speaker's from
the highest ranks of government and industry will address global
politics, the psychology of terror states, security, international
economics, strengthening the travel management industry, changing
buzz words into policy and leadership as a skill at the Association
of Corporate Travel Executive's (ACTE) Global
Montréal Conference, April 28-30, 2002. As part of
the "Issues Driven, Solutions Sought" program, the speakers
will systematically lead participants through a big picture briefing
to a tighter focus on the travel management industry.
Author, statesman,
legislator, advisor to the White House (in addition to four foreign
governments), and a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, former Senator
George Mitchell is an authority on Middle Eastern violence,
the peace process in Northern Ireland, and dozens of social issues
facing the United States. In a presentation titled, "The New World
Order," Mitchell will identify the parameters of emerging states,
their impact on global economics and policies, and how both will
affect the transportation industry.
Former
chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board James Hall,
Esq., will interpret the current safety measures, define compliance
issues and pinpoint the gray areas in passenger security initiatives.
During his career, Hall launched a number of landmark safety studies
on commuter carriers, the tour industry and many aspects of surface
transportation. He is a member of the District of Columbia and
Tennessee bars, and heads the transportation safety, crisis management,
and governmental endeavors for Dillon, Hall and Lungerhausen.
Marvin
Zonis, Ph.D. renowned political economist and author of four
books will reveal proactive measures to strengthen the business
travel industry in this era of political risk, following a thought-provoking
analysis of the current situation. Zonis speaks from his perspective
as a professor at the Graduate School of Business (University
of Chicago); a principal in an international consulting firm (Marvin
Zonis & Associates, Inc.) which advises governments and investment
firms on risk management; and a frequent guest on Nightline and
CNN's Larry King Live.
The fourth
speaker in this series is Henry Harteveldt, senior analyst
for the Forrester Research Group, will address the role technology
will play in stimulating recovery and reshaping the travel management
process. Harteveldt's expertise in transportation technology,
coupled with an extensive background in business travel (including
management positions with CKS Partners, Fairmont Hotels, The Trump
Shuttle, TWA, and as the cofounder and vice president of Sierra
Expressway Airlines) has made him a preferred resource for comment
in both print and broadcast media (e.g. USA Today, WSJ.com, National
Geographic Traveler, and Business Travel News).
Author
Steve Farber, an expert in the areas of leadership, reinvention,
and teamwork will unlock the secrets of making the most out
of the opportunities and challenges inherent in travel management
expansion. A pragmatist, Farber advises professionals what to
do when popular concepts like empowerment, reengineering, TQM,
and vision are slammed into the barriers surrounding corporate
cultures. He specializes in assisting senior management teams
in developing market-driven strategies and effective leadership
practices.
Preregistration
for the ACTE Global Montréal Conference reached 50 percent
of the anticipated total 90 days prior to the event, clearly illustrating
a pent-up industry-wide call to action in the wake of 9/11.
