ACTE Confers Mantle of Leadership on Garth Jopling and Greeley Koch
Alexandria, VA (Oct. 29) -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives has named Garth Jopling, travel manager Canada for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, as the new president, and Greeley Koch, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Navigant, as the president-elect for 2005. The announcement was made following the conclusion of ACTE's Global Conference in Dublin.
Garth Jopling is a 12-year veteran of the business travel management industry. He began as travel manager for Digital Equipment of Canada, where he established and then managed the travel program until 1993. Jopling then moved to the business finance group at Digital as senior financial analyst. He held various management positions until moving to the corporate consulting group in 1997, where he managed a number of client relationships including Price Waterhouse and the Bank of Montreal. Jopling joined PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in 1998. He holds a BA in economics from the University of Alberta, and an MBA in finance from the University of Toronto.
Working in conjunction with Sylvia Gray and other ACTE leaders in Canada, Jopling played a pivotal role in calling attention to contingency planning and industry preparedness during the challenges of the past year.
Greeley S. Koch is a well-known and often quoted authority in the business travel industry. Currently the senior vice president of sales and marketing for Navigant, he previously served as the senior vice president of corporate travel and food services for Bank of America. Prior to this position, Koch was the manager of the travel and entertainment services group where he was directly responsible for the rollout of the global travel consolidation program. Koch also worked for Abbott Laboratories in Chicago, Illinois, where he held management positions in the travel, group meeting, company vehicles and purchasing departments. Before Abbott Laboratories, he held several positions working for the State of Illinois including the Governor's office.
Koch is currently serving as chair for ACTE's United States regional council. In addition to serving on numerous task forces and planning committees, he is a former chair of ACTE's education committee.
Garth Jopling's term of office began at the conclusion of ACTE's Global Conference in Dublin. Greeley S. Koch will hold the title of president-elect until January 2005. ACTE officers serve in supporting roles to assure the continuity of association policy, and to assist in the running of a global volunteer association.
